    Hey Gluck
    You're doing Great man!!!!!
    Got your channel where you are now getting about every piece of equipment for free. I knew you'd get there. Congrats Bud!!!!!
    The Adonis is Great and all that but I just cannot see me paying over $3,200 for a Lat pulldown machine. I get inflation but some of these prices have gotten astronomical.
    One Great thing though is REP has made Rogue lower their prices. Without REP's Adonis, Rogue would not have come out with their new Lat tower and Rogue's price on their new Lat tower is comparable to REP's Adonis. Rogue's new Lat tower would've been over $4,000 to your door without REP's Adonis, we all know it, so bless REP's heart, they are lowering Rogue's prices!!!!!!!!!
    Way to Go Gluck,
    You are a Main Player!!!!!!

    Gluck, are you familiar with the Signature Leg Press? Walmart online was selling them at $899 but they claim the MSRP was $2600. I bought one and the thing is a beast. Weight of machine 500 lbs. The bar’s that the linear bearings wrap around are about 2 inches or more in diameter of solid steel. I had to muscle this thing into my basement alone…probably the worst equipment move into the basement I’ve ever had and I’ve moved a lot of sizes and shapes. I didn’t know if you ever reviewed one. Build quality looks amazing on this but I honestly prefer the versatility of a dual cable design like the Bells of Steel cable tower (I have two). Being able to do 1:1 or 2:1 from any height, as well as dual cable movements (rows, curls, pressdowns) is awesome. Cables running down the side of the uprights means I can attach them to lever arms from the bottom. Add a lat pulldown attachment from Matt Porter (or a DIY version like mine) and they basically do everything (in my case that includes flyes, presses, etc since I have two… for the same price as one Adonis).
    The new GetRX unit looks like a better, 3x3 version of this design (Titan makes a worse version, naturally 😂)
    This is all kinda moot though for me anyway since Bells is the only one (apart from Titan) that’s short enough to fit in my basement.

    Ouch Gluck. Usually 10/10 stuff. But the Prime HLP racks are famous for having multiple pulley ratios. The lat tower is 1:1 and the trolley is 2:1. And actually on the plate loaded HLP towers the trolley has a pin that you can pull allowing it go to 4:1 for really “athletic” style training. Good review overall but to call out a company for not having the very thing they made popular is a glaring oversight in your equipment knowledge.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  2 месяца назад

      Correct. The lat pull on the Single stack is 1:1, the trolley is whichever you purchase (2:1 or 4:1). I re-watched this and agree I worded it very poorly in the summary. I'm referring to potentially needing a gym pin with low rows since the trolley/low row is the one piece, hence same ratio. These aren't perfectly scripted vids and I don't have anyone with me as I film and talking to a camera is hard. I'll do better wording it in the future.

      The low row cable does run between the bottom pulleys but there's a retention bolt above it that the cable rubs on. You can remove that bolt (I have) but that's not how Rep tells you to build it nor how they have it pictured.

    Is this really intended as a home gym product? The comparable $3000 Rogue product only ships fully assembled to a loading dock and is obviously aimed at commercial gyms.

    Other than the fit and finish, I can't figure out a reason to go with the CTM-1 yet. CTM even is using nylon pulley wheels, or at least they say they're "imported." Everything seems very close except that the CTM limits you to the selectorized stack, which looks better and is more stack weight than REP, but the smaller stack gives the Adonis the ability to have longer cable travel. Is there anything I'm missing that's really stand out for the CTM? The trolley might be beefier on Rogue but Adonis may be easier to use.

    • @GlucksGym
      @GlucksGym  2 месяца назад +4

      The material of the pulley doesn't really affect it's function. It's the bearings that matter. That narrative is tied to many budget companies using Nylon pulleys with poor quality/cheap bearings in them. That's not what Rogue is doing, I've seen the Nylon pulleys in the Single and Twin stack, they're very good.
      The CTM-1 has a sectorized and plate loaded version as well. Cable travel shouldn't be an issue with the CTM-1 because just like with the Adonis, Rogue has two pulley ratios and you'll have a lot of cable to work with when using the trolley.
      The appeal of the CTM-1 is it's an American made product with a higher fit and finish. Don't get me wrong, Rep has done a great job here but For similar money the CTM-1 will end up being very temping for anyone looking in this budget range.

    • @fwiffo42
      @fwiffo42 2 месяца назад +1

      In addition to Gluck’s comments, the CTM-1 will come in multiple height options. The lowest height is a few inches shorter than the Adonis and the tallest ones will be great for anyone with really high ceilings.
      I’d flip it around and say the only advantage of Rep’s is the Pegasus. But if you already have a chest support pad, I’d rather use that with a CTM-1 then get a new one.

      @@fwiffo42 Good points. One big thing the CTM looks like it addresses that Gluck pointed out on the Adonis...It looks like on the low row there are 2 pulleys, one for the row and one above it that will allow you to pull straight up. Found a video of the LP-2 that shows that the lower pulley allows pulls from above the low row.

    The problem these companies are doing in their design is NOT making their functional trainers at a 3:1 ratio. The FreeMotion functional trainer is the absolute best on the market for functional training cable machines. It uses a 3:1. If you want to have a 1:1 for Pulldown fine but the real question is… why did these companies think that a functional trainer needs more load (1:1 or 2:1) but the exercises typically used with a functional trainer do not use that strength curve due to lack of leverage? When you try to rotational exercise with a 1:1 or 2:1 ratio it feels terrible.

  • @airgordo4

    Rep has basically been home run after home run recently but this product seems just kinda mehh..
    Reps refusal to make anything taller than their standard height is the downfall of this unit. If not for height limitations Rep could just add a heavy enough stack and not need the weight horns. As a stand-alone unit maybe it’s not a big deal but anybody wanting to attach this to a rack, or storage set up, they don’t want to have foot long knee/shin bangers in their way every time they need to actually get to the storage. And maybe it’s possible to leave them off during assembly, but then you’re limited to 210lbs for pull downs and rows which doesn’t seem ideal either.
    Not only that but Gluck seems to nearly max out the height for pull downs and I’d probably have another 6” of reach than him. Perhaps the seat could go lower than he has it during the demo.
    Add in the price. The Rogue unit just seems like a substantially better design to the point that I’d rather pay whatever the price of the Rogue unit is + shipping + Rep’s lat seat if I felt it was a worthwhile upgrade just to have what feels like a much better cable tower with nearly 100 more pounds to work with.
